The Rio de segura runs through the town and down to the Mediterranean where there also is a båthavn.Guardamar also offer various archaeological sites like the Phoenician city of La Fonteta and the Las Dunas and a Moorish fortress.
The municipal archaeological-ethnological museum and Engineer Mira casa Museum are two more interesting cultural venues. Guardamar also has various ecologically interesting natural areas. Guardamar is a typical Spanish town with about 16,000 inhabitants. Every Wednesday there is a large market in the city that has a lot of different vegetables, clothes, shoes etc There are also several other major markets in the short distance which is open Saturdays and Sundays. Guardamar also night market located in one of the streets down towards the sea and here there will be stalls set up every night with a little of each. This market is also right next to the famous green family park Reina Sofia with lots of different trees and palms with a rich bird life with different species of peacocks to ducks and geese swimming in the artificial streams and waterfalls. This city is really worth a visit.
